If it was really an issue you would contact Anet. Who knows, perhaps you were reported for something and thats your penalty.

You should lose fame every time you emote.

I've also heard the rumour that nasty comments + rank spamming the loosing party = loosing fame.
Don't know whether it's true or not. As far as I'm concerned, rank spamming is fine, nasty comments are not. In the case of the OP, I'd say you deserved it. |

If any of this is true then i'd just like to say.... ahem...... WTF????
Ok ranking someone after beating them is offensive by why not let us do it.... ok so guild wars is a rated T game and they have to keep that T rating for all the kiddies playing.... but why take away fame.... so iway likes to trash talk and rank people... don't take away the fame from the balanced groups that do good... NERF IWAY PLEASE.. (i know no one is listening... this nerf is 11months too late..... but i have hope)... let us talk trash .... and if they die let us call them noobs.... because obviously their tactics and players were inferior to yours.... if they lost... i mean don't go around spreading hate... give us the satisfaction of saying a few lines of pompous comments to boost team morale in real life .... "to the victor goes the spoils" |

Anet has already released their protocals for punishing rules infractions:
http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...d_outcomes.php You get kicked off the server for a while. If the violation is particularly severe or ongoing, you get kicked for a good Looooong while. If they were to implement new punishments for violators, they would notify people. Translation: do not spread wild stories without a shred of proof. If you actually were rank 9, and suddenly find yourself rank 8, I suggest you file a support ticket and start grinding. |

It is okay to flash a rank, after beating an other guild. There is nothing wrong about gloating after a battle well fought, imho.
Name calling, on the other hand, is not okay. http://www.guildwars.com/support/ is the only one who can tell you if you are demoted. If they punnished everybody who called the word "Noob", they must do a whole lot of work with the speed of light. |

Newb is the proper way of saying it. So saying Noob was childish and stupid.

i've had fame deducted simply for emoting after we'd won a game. Anet have some serious issuses if they punish players for using an emote...

Maybe a member of staff was observing the game and noticed what was being said in the local channel at the time. He/she might have felt the need to do something and after all, they can't give you lines.

If this is true, well done Anet for punishing the moronic, offensive behaviour that blights every online game I have ever played in.
